Privacy Policy
Last updated 4 August 2026
ResumeLLM tailors a resume to a job description. A resume carries your name, email address, phone number, home location and full work history, so this policy is specific about where that text goes and how long it stays there.
What we store
Your account. Sign-in is handled by Clerk, which stores your email address, authentication credentials and session records. We do not see or store your password.
Usage counts. We keep a number per account per month — how many refines you have run — so that plan limits can be enforced. This is a count, not a copy of what you refined.
Billing. If you subscribe, payment is processed by Stripe. We never receive or store your full card number. We keep the identifiers Stripe gives us so we know which account is on which plan.
What we do not store
Your resume, the job descriptions you paste, and any refined draft are never written to our database or to browser storage. They exist in your browser tab for the length of your session and in server memory for the length of a single request. Refreshing the page discards them. Signing in on another device gets you an empty form, not your last draft.
This is a deliberate design decision, not an oversight. Personal contact details left in browser storage outlive the session on whatever machine you opened it on.
Where your resume text goes
To refine a resume or read an uploaded PDF, the relevant text is sent to OpenAI, which runs the language model that performs the rewrite. This means your resume content leaves our servers and is processed by OpenAI under their terms and data handling practices. We do not use your content to train any model, and we do not send it anywhere else.
If you would rather a third party never process your resume, do not use the refine or PDF upload features. Keyword extraction and coverage scoring run locally in your browser and involve no model call.
Service providers
- Clerk — accounts, sign-in and session management
- OpenAI — the language model that performs refines and PDF parsing
- Vercel — hosting and request logs
- Neon — the database holding usage counts and subscription status
- Stripe — subscription payments
Retention and deletion
Resume and job description content has no retention period because it is never stored. Account data is kept while your account exists. Usage counters expire automatically — burst counters within minutes, monthly allowances within about forty days.
To delete your account and the data attached to it, email support@resumellm.com. We may retain billing records where tax or accounting law requires it.
Cookies
We use only the cookies required to keep you signed in. There is no advertising or cross-site tracking on this site.
Children
This service is not directed to anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes materially we will update the date above and notify account holders by email. Questions go to support@resumellm.com.
